Chasing Mythic gear in Diablo 4 can feel rough if you're just hoping the loot gods wake up in a good mood. Weapons, armour, charms, seals, all of it matters once you're deep into the endgame, but there's a smarter route than random farming. Right now, Kurast Undercity is the place most serious players are looking at, especially if they're trying to stack rewards rather than burn hours for nothing. If you care about building around strong D4 items, this setup is worth learning properly, because a clean run can hand you as many as four Mythics when everything lines up.
Set Up the Undercity Before You Rush In
The run starts before you even enter the dungeon. You'll want a Mythic Tribute of Armaments, since that's the key piece that makes this farm worth doing. After that, look at the left side of the Undercity tree. The three nodes you're after are Endless Swarm, Unfortunate Souls, and Gutter Filth. Don't skip that last one. Gutter Filth is the node that lets Portal Pranksters appear, and those little pests are what turn a normal reward screen into something much better. A lot of players miss this and then wonder why their run feels flat. The tree matters. The tribute matters. If either part is wrong, you're mostly just doing another dungeon with extra steps.
Why Portal Pranksters Matter So Much
Once you're inside, your job isn't just to sprint to the end. You're hunting Pranksters. Each one you kill adds another reward chest after the boss, with the bonus capped at three extra chests. Add that to the main tribute reward, and that's where the dream of four Mythics comes from. It won't happen every single time, of course. Diablo never works like that. But you're giving yourself the best possible shot. These enemies can be easy to miss if you're playing on autopilot, so slow down just enough to check side rooms, portal spawns, and any messy fights where one might slip away.
Hit Every Beacon You See
Here's the bit that trips people up. Don't stop touching beacons just because your attunement bar is already full. Keep hitting them. Every beacon has value because it can help trigger the conditions that bring more Pranksters into the run. The same goes for Invasion Portals. Clear them out instead of walking past. It's tempting to rush, especially if your build deletes packs in seconds, but speed isn't the whole game here. You're farming reward chances, not just finishing a timer. A slightly slower run with three Pranksters is usually miles better than a fast run where you ignored half the dungeon.
Make Each Run Count
The best approach is simple: enter prepared, play alert, and don't get lazy halfway through. Bring a build that can clear fast but still survive bad portal spawns, because dying or backtracking too much kills the rhythm. If your goal is to stockpile upgrades, trade pieces, or compare values against cheap D4 items while planning your next character, Kurast Undercity is one of the most efficient farms available right now. It rewards players who understand the setup, not just players who grind the longest. Treat the Pranksters like the real objective, and the end chest room starts looking a lot more interesting.
